Firm History
History
Dezarnaulds Basten is a successor to the legal practice founded by Mr Camille Auguste Henri Dezarnaulds in the 1930?s. Its various transformations saw Mr Camille Auguste Henri Dezarnaulds and his sons work in partnership with other lawyers prior to forming a smaller family firm (Dezarnaulds & Dezarnaulds) on their own.
The firm name was changed to ?Dezarnaulds? when Peter Dezarnaulds became sole proprietor of the firm in the early 1990?s.
After working as an employed Solicitor with Peter Dezarnaulds, Sally Basten became proprietor of the firm in 1996 and the name of the practice was changed to ?Dezarnaulds Basten?.
Mr Peter Dezarnaulds, remains a consultant with the firm and brings over 30 years of experience to the practice.
We hold the archived files of the various Dezarnaulds family firms from 1986 onwards together with those firms? safe custody records including Wills and Certificates of Title.
Why the French connection ?
The Dezarnaulds family is one of the well-known families in New Caledonia.
Mr Camille August Henri Dezarnaulds was born in New Caledonia and came to Australia at the age of 5 when his family relocated to Sydney.
He completed all of his education in Australia and then returned to New Caledonia to do his military service.
Mr Dezarnaulds was completely bi-lingual in French and English and, after becoming a Solicitor, established a practice offering services to French-speaking clients.
He worked tirelessly throughout his life for his many Australian and New Caledonian clients. His contributions to the French community in Australia were recognised by the conferring of a Legion d?Honneur by the French Government.
